Siam Kraft Industry Company (SKIC) Live!
January 2008
Greycon is pleased to announce that in December 2007 the Supply Chain project at SKIC, part of the Siam Cement Group (SCG), has been successfully completed. The project kick-off meeting took place just over fourteen months ago on November 13th, 2006. It was a remarkable achievement to complete a project of this magnitude in one year. The key to accomplishing such a feat was the perseverance and unwavering dedication of the team involved. The combined project team from Greycon, our partners Trading Science and Forward Consulting, ITOne, and SKIC was composed of over 30 people with direct involvement, based on four different continents.
The ATP/CTP go-live on December 1st completes all implementation phases of the project. In many ways, this is just the beginning of what promises to be a long and fruitful relationship between SKIC and Greycon. As the SKIC users gain more familiarity with the system day-by-day, several post start-up enhancement and optimization opportunities will inevitably arise. So the go-live is really just a milestone, albeit an important one, on the path to ensuring SKIC receives the highest possible return on their investment.
The scope of the system covers ATP/CTP, forecasting, master planning, inventory replenishment, run optimization, production planning, block scheduling, trimming across two paper mills, seven paper machines, and 13 warehouses. It is integrated with SKIC's ERP system, SAP, a custom web-based kraft order processing system known as KOS, and the mill MES systems, called PLS.
Completion of the project provides SKIC with a world-class supply chain planning and execution system necessary to achieve the group's goal of being the number one supplier of kraft paper and boxes in all of South East Asia. SKIC's stated intention is to expand the system to two additional paper mills in Thailand, one mill in the Philippines, and one mill now under construction in Vietnam.
A number of other projects are also already underway or in the planning stages for 2008, this includes integration of the kraft mills and box plants' supply chains, and S-Plan and X-Trim implementations in the fine paper division.
Greycon's management team would like to express our gratitude to all those involved who have worked so tirelessly to make this project a success.
