S-Plan APS: Materials Manager
Product Overview
The Materials Manager incorporates material constraints into the scheduling logic. The Materials Manager anticipates the material requirements and calculates the reordering information. The module typically interfaces to the Materials Planning modules of the ERP system.
S-Plan recognizes material requirements when planning operations within the schedule and takes the material constraints into account. As these material requirements are linked to specific operations (tasks) of each order, the materials requirements can be scheduled precisely.
The standard MRP functionality is still required because S-Plan does not cope with multi-level bill of materials, but can only handle single levels (i.e. S-Plan relies on the host system to do the bill of materials explosion).
The output of this module is in terms of suggested material stock replenishment orders that are fed back to host system.
S-Plan Materials handles bills of materials taking into account material stock level and minimum stock cover. The system also accounts for materials in transit and can handle semi-finished goods requirements, where one area of production produces a material requirement for the next stage of production. In this case, an internal order or direct production order generates material and the next stage consumes it.
